Ryan v. BP Corporation
Wrongful death case on behalf 69 year old Nancy Ryan, who lived near Defendant’s refinery and was exposed to benzene. Mrs. Ryan was diagnosed with polycythemia vera that transitioned to MDS and leukemia. The case was resolved prior to the punitive damage phase of the trial. This was the first of over 35 cases filed by The Walters Law Firm on behalf of residents of Sugar Creek with leukemia/lymphoma, all of which were ultimately resolved.

The load was so wide that the tires hung over the center line and struck an oncoming Taurus. Both driver and passenger in the Taurus were killed.

The cases alleged that the polyethylene components of the knee joint were improperly sterilized causing premature wearing. This wearing caused bone degradation necessitating revision surgery.
An 18 year old client of the firm was awarded $1 Million in settlement of a medical negligence claim. The case arose due to a medical clinic’s failure to recognize the signs and symptoms of juvenile glaucoma.
The disease progressed for nearly two years without proper treatment, which resulted in near blindness.
